Serving Court Papers with Local Court Officer

Process in civil cases may be served by any legally competent adult who is not a party or an officer of a corporate party to the case.

The 28th District Court does not provide process serving services.  Under the rules of the Michigan Court Administration Reference Guide, this Court cannot assess or collect fees for process serving that is performed by others.  In other words, the 28th District Court cannot act as the conduit for having your court papers served after work hours by a court officer. 

If you desire to have the Court’s officer serve your court papers as required by MCR 2.103(A) -- outside of his normal work hours -- it is your responsibility to independently contact him and make arrangements for service and payment:
